Study: Women use social media most

What strikes me most about this study is the fact that the percentages are only up for women about 5%-10%. Could this partially be explained by the fact that women tend to live much longer than men, and there are generally more women on the planet? Or is social media merely being dominated by a force of stay-at-home moms and mommy-bloggers who use social media ... read more

Study Says Women Use Social Media More

According to a recent study, it was found that women use social media networks more than men. The study used Google Ad Planner numbers to find this interesting conclusion.
Women use social media more than men
When I think of social media, think of people who are regularly submitting their opinions and interesting things they found on the web and getting the latest gossip and news. Women tend to do the exact same things in person; they like to get the latest gossip and give their opinions and talk about interesting things they’ve found. It’s a huge generalization I’m making, but it does account to why maybe social media attracts more women than men.
Women being the more dominant force in social media should be a positive for most businesses. This is because 80 percent of women are the decision-making one in their household when it comes to buying power. The more that a business can convince women that they need their product, the more profits they’ll make.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

SEO Reality Check: Why you will never reach the first page of Google

Rethink the keywords you optimize for your blog or website!

SEO Reality Check: Why you will never reach the first page of Google

I’m here to talk about the top mistakes that people make in SEO in relation to keywords, which in turn, basically guarantee that they will never reach the top of Google.

Let’s say that I’m starting an online shop focusing on baby products.  The problem that most people encounter in relation to keywords, is that they use terms  like “baby products” without recognizing their popularity or exploring other options.
consider online entities like Babies-R-Us and Graco that have hundreds of thousands of dollars to commit to online marketing.  Large companies like these dominate the online marketing world because they have almost unlimited resources while, sadly, you do not.
Also, consider how search engines like Google rank sites: the shorter the keyword, the more searches you will have.  Therefore, the shorter the keyword or phrase, the harder it is for you to rank number one in Google

Google debuts ‘stock market’ for display ads

Google debuts ‘stock market’ for display ads

In September, Google introduced a new way for its customers to buy and sell online display ads. It’s called the DoubleClick Ad Exchange and it allows Internet marketers to find a variety of Web pages to advertise on and quickly make a bid. This speeds up the process for both advertisers and publishers looking for ad revenue.

Google has literally thousands of partner websites scattered across the Web that display its online ads. However, Google has never been very good at display advertising. It bought DoubleClick back in 2007 for $3.1 billion and has been trying to come up with a good way to jump into this part of the paid-search market. This appears to be its big move.

Google’s move comes with plenty of risks. What if few ad publishers and advertisers sign on to the service? Who would want to participate in a service that no one else is using? Internet marketers are looking for ways to reach the right audience in simpler ways.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

Google Caffeine changes the rules

Internet marketers, beware! Google’s new search engine, Google Caffeine, could change the way your e-commerce site is ranked, especially when it comes to single and two-word key phrases.

Google Caffeine changes the rules

Right now, Google is not doing a good job of searching through social-media sites, like Twitter and Facebook. So the company is working on a new version of its popular search engine that will add them to the mix and shake up other sites’ rankings for certain keywords.
They pointed out six ways the new search engine will dramatically affect online marketers’ strategies. For instance, 15 percent of all first-page rankings were different for the 40 keywords used in the study. Amazingly, the single keywords and two-word phrases saw 50 percent of their first-page results change with the new search engine.
The reason for this big change is the fact that Google Caffeine is focusing more on keyword relevance and it’s steering away from blogs and wikis in favor of social media, video, music, photo and other sites previously outside of its search capability.

Blogging with Style

What does your blog design tell your readers?

If you still have that generic blue and white WordPress theme that is standard on all newly created blogs, you probably won’t get the chance to say much.  An unchanged, sterile design not only gives off an air of neglect, nonchalance and antiquity, but it also gives your readers no reason to stay!

In short, web design for blogs should be just as much a priority as the content it offers!  Why would a visitor take the time to read your blog posts when it is physically straining on their eyes, due to bright colors, lack of color, inconsistent formatting or poor layout?

It is so easy to fix this problem!  There are hundreds of sites out there offering a wide variety of free WordPress themes to plug-in to your blog.

One of the best free blog theme sites I’ve come across recently is ThemeFury.  ThemeFury just launched dozens of high-style WordPress themes that fit every blogging niche. Read more at www.submitsolution.com

So I got them to click. Now what?

It is too often the case that when starting a paid search marketing campaign, people tend to lose sight of the main point.  What’s the main point, you ask?  To get people to click, right?  Wrong.

Yes, it’s true that Pay-Per-Click ads provide quality leads most of the time.  However, no matter how interested the “clicker” is in your products, services or niche, if your site is poorly designed or organized, your marketing would have been in vain.  There is no point marketing a site that is difficult to use, messy, or otherwise messed up!

Here are some online tools to test the quality of your site:

1. Five Second Test
2.  Website Grader:
3.  Google Analytics:

To capitalize on all of your internet marketing campaigns, use free tools like these to see how people are viewing your site.  This will greatly increase the productivity of your PPC ads, SEO strategies and social media marketing.

Do Biases Cross The Line When Journalists Use Social Media?

Do Biases Cross The Line When Journalists Use Social Media?

Journalists have always had the responsibility of delivering news that is unbiased and balanced when reporting a story. They make sure their own opinions are left out of the story in order to achieve this which builds up their integrity and their publication’s credibility to the public.

But in this recent world of social media, journalists’ private and public life are beginning to become intertwined. Washington Post just closed down their Managing Editor’s Twitter account because of their expressing views on the health care system. They then sent out new social media guidelines to all of their employees stating what they can and can not do.

Journalists On Social Media Websites

What do you think? Do you think journalists should be allowed to express their opinions on their personal social media accounts? Or do their bosses (like Washington Post) have the right to limit their freedom of expression?

Superman vs. Bing Visual Search: Who’ll come out on top?

How does Microsoft Bing’s visual search really stack up? Will this ever get better?

Amplifyd from www.submitsolution.com

Superman vs. Bing Visual Search

The other day, I had an image in my mind of a strange object and I wanted to find a picture of it online. The only problem was I didn’t have a clue what it was called. The image in my head was of a scene in “Superman II”
Luckily, my resourceful coworker found it on Amazon.com, I believe. I could now put a name to an image – Newton’s cradle!
This story illustrates my need for a visual search engine and not simply a text-based one. Luckily, Microsoft and Google are both heading in that direction.
Newton's cradle, like in Superman II.
None of the Bing Visual Search galleries look like they would help me find Newton’s cradle because they mostly include people, entertainment and electronics. But it’s new, so I’m willing to cut Microsoft some slack. I’m sure they will get better as they get a feel for what people are (literally) looking for.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

10 Ways to Socially Monetize Your Business

Just like any emerging online trend, Twitter has been infiltrated by spammers, many of them making claims like the one you see below:  “Make money with Twitter!”, etc.  While the spammers themselves are incredibly annoying (and their claims  baseless) there is some truth to that statement: Make money with Twitter.  Obviously, this is not to be done the way the bots are suggesting you do it.  Rather, Twitter can be a great tool for e-commerce businesses looking to gain exposure.
