Google debuts ‘stock market’ for display ads

Google debuts ‘stock market’ for display ads

In September, Google introduced a new way for its customers to buy and sell online display ads. It’s called the DoubleClick Ad Exchange and it allows Internet marketers to find a variety of Web pages to advertise on and quickly make a bid. This speeds up the process for both advertisers and publishers looking for ad revenue.

Google has literally thousands of partner websites scattered across the Web that display its online ads. However, Google has never been very good at display advertising. It bought DoubleClick back in 2007 for $3.1 billion and has been trying to come up with a good way to jump into this part of the paid-search market. This appears to be its big move.

Google’s move comes with plenty of risks. What if few ad publishers and advertisers sign on to the service? Who would want to participate in a service that no one else is using? Internet marketers are looking for ways to reach the right audience in simpler ways.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

10 Ways to Socially Monetize Your Business

Just like any emerging online trend, Twitter has been infiltrated by spammers, many of them making claims like the one you see below:  “Make money with Twitter!”, etc.  While the spammers themselves are incredibly annoying (and their claims  baseless) there is some truth to that statement: Make money with Twitter.  Obviously, this is not to be done the way the bots are suggesting you do it.  Rather, Twitter can be a great tool for e-commerce businesses looking to gain exposure.

The Importance of Unique SEO Content Writing

The Importance of Unique SEO Content Writing

SEO… It’s been around since the creation of the internet, but hasn’t really become a focus of companies to use until five years ago. Search engine optimization has successfully helped hundreds of companies reach high on search engine lists to get noticed more by on-line users.

There are a few things you should look for when writing SEO-quality content. First, make sure your content is not duplicated or copied from somewhere else. This includes even just a sentence or phrase; it could affect your rankings. Original content is the best way to go to and preferably by a real human being – not a robot.

SEO Writing
One last thing – when writing, be sure to keep in mind who your audience is. If you write very informal on a medical website, then viewers will not be impressed and not think it’s professional and won’t purchase services.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

iPod Tuch? The Problem with Dynamic Keyword Insertion in Paid Ads

Read on to see the pros and cons of DKI in PPC ads.  Some of the cons are generic language, poor spelling, mistrust, etc.

iPod Tuch? The Problem with Dynamic Keyword Insertion

We’ve all experienced this before.  I’m typing in “iPod Touch” in a search engine, but accidentally spell out “iPod Tuch.”  I immediately realize my mistake as I see the popular question, “Did you mean: iPod Touch?”, encouraging me to search for the correct terms.  However, many of the listings that pull up are relevant, so I don’t redo the search with the correct spelling.  Then I see the paid search ad on the side with the incorrect search query inserted in.  I can’t help feeling annoyed

iPod Tuch PPC ad with DKI

PPC ads like I just described implement what’s called a DKI or Dynamic Keyword Insertion technique.  These ads automatically insert search keywords into a paid ad.  This form is popular because, if used correctly, it can produce very specific results that will generate quality traffic.

However, the use of DKI in PPC ads can result in annoyance, as in my situation, mistrust or even generic and weak ad content.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

Blogs are Here to Stay! Why Twitter Can’t Replace Blogs

Perhaps social media marketers have TOO much faith in the micro-blogging, social networking tool.  While I acknowledge Twitter’s incredible power for the time being, I’m going to have to agree.  Blogs seem both more permanent and more universal.

Why Twitter can’t replace blogs

The first point is, as the Blog Bloke puts it, “If you are a marketer trying to make money, you will want your Twitter followers to visit your blog and click on your ads.”
To quote Lex Luthor, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Companies often post links to deals and special offers on their Twitter accounts, but those links always go to one of their corporate websites or landing pages. Nothing is bought or sold on Twitter, itself.
The second important point is, “Ultimately, your blog is where you want the action to be. You want your readers to follow you over to your real blog on your own domain and a site that belongs to YOU.”

Twitter and other social-media sites do not technically help with SEO. The only way they do is if other Twitter users find links to your blog and link to them on their own blogs. Twitter and Facebook have no-follow tags, which tell search engines to pay no attention to themRead more at www.submitsolution.com

SEO and Bing: Should you be worried?

Companies are wondering how Bing is going to affect their SEO and whether or not they should make the extra effort to cater to this “Decision Engine”s way of doing things.

How Could Bing Affect Your Current SEO Rankings?

Microsoft released Bing (formerly known as MSN Search) just a few months ago with more than $80 million being spent in promoting it. An issue that has been brought up was whether the SEO rankings of companies would be affected. If Bing becomes more increasingly popular, then companies will need to start catering their SEO techniques to it or else they’ll lose out on searches being made there.

Bing is still fairly new so many are waiting to see its long-term effects. Right now, some are saying it’s a good idea for companies to make the extra effort within the next year to increase ranking to take advantage of Bing’s advertising push.
Even though I don’t think Bing will be as strong as Google, I still think it’s a good idea for companies to get involved with it during this popularity burst. And if Bing does end up being a top search engine, then companies will benefit more receiving traffic from more than just Google.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

Demystifying Pay-Per-Click Ads

Pay-Per-Click ads can be a great marketing tool, there’s little doubt about that.  However, this form of advertising is more difficult than it looks.  Sure, anyone can come up with a slogan, title or headline that they think properly describes their product or service.  But is that really a good and effective ad?  In this post, we will outline the six major reasons why people click on ads and how you can apply this to your own online marketing strategy.

Here are the 6 reasons why people click
Benefits: Readers feel like they will benefit in some way by clicking on the ad.

Brand: Readers recognize the brand.

Differentiation: The ad is different from the others around it and somehow attracts readers’ attention.

Curiosity: Readers want to know more about what the ad implies, claims or asks.

Legibility: The ad makes logical sense to readers.

Call to Action: Readers feel inclined to click on an ad that calls them to action.

The five things a website needs to get ranked on the first page of Google results are:
1. Keywords – These are the search terms you want people to type into a search engine in order to find your Web page.

2. Site Content – You need to use your chosen keywords in your website’s text to show search engines your site is relevant to those topics.

3. Meta Content – You don’t usually see this content, but it must be there in the backend of your site and in your Web page titles for your site to be fully optimized.Read more at www.submitsolution.com

YouTube’s Big Challenge: Making a Profit

Any major changes could possibly affect the popularity of the site.  We’ll see how it turns out!

YouTube’s big challenge: Making a profit

Google Inc. has tried for three years to turn YouTube into an advertising platform, and it’s now aggressively pushing new ad formats and sealing deals with media companies.

These deals are part of YouTube’s new revenue-generating strategy – a monumental effort the company has tapped Google veteran Salar Kamangar to oversee. More high-profile shows help it attract higher ad rates.

While YouTube continues to lose money, Google Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette told analysts he was “really pleased” with YouTube’s revenue growth and said it will be profitable “in the not long, too long distant future.” Some analysts estimate YouTube’s revenue will roughly double to about $500 million in 2009, because of its advertising pushes.

“We can’t be successful unless our partners are successful and making money,” Kamangar said.

5. Inbound Links – These are links (or votes) from other websites to your site.
